Led by Wood Mackenzie’s storage research practice in partnership with Wärtsilä, this 90-minute virtual session will break down the technology and design innovations and strategies the Finnish storage powerhouse is implementing to minimize exposure to a myriad of risks, as systems get bigger and bigger, with longer discharge durations.

The scale of upcoming in-front-of-the-meter storage projects will grow exponentially over the next two years. Some of these projects will take over for gas plants; others are designed to make use of an overabundance of solar energy, turning it into peak power and thereby obviating the need for more gas peakers.

But with greater system size, comes greater risk. And risk comes in many forms: financial and technology/warranty-related, as well as those derived from potential delays in construction and interconnection. No other stakeholder is more exposed to these risks than the system integrator.
